Open Zebra. Click File > New. The Label Setup Wizard will be displayed. 


Select the zebra printer > Next.


Select Standard Print Mode > Next.


Set Stock Type to <NONE> then click Next.


Page Size - the default size will be picked up from the printer that you have choosen. To change the label size click Select Page Size and enter the label height and width. Click Next.


Set Orientation to Portrait > Next.


Check the label dimensions are correct then click Finish.


The next stage is to connect the downloaded barcode file to the label.

Click Database > Create Database Connection.


Select Direct Database Access (recommended option) then click Browse to find the barcode file.


Go to the directory where you saved the barcode file and click on the file then click Open. The file location will then be displayed in the wizard. Click Next.

Select the fields that you want to appear on the label. These are normally item code, size, description and Ean8. Click on the first field then hold the Ctrl key and select all of the other fields you require. The selected fields will be shown in blue. Click Next.


Choose the Records Printing options that you require. Normally these are set to 'I want to select what record to print' and 'Print one label for each record in the database'. Click Next.


Select 'I want a text object for each selected field' then click Finish.


The fields that you selected will now appear on the label. If any of the fields are displayed in red you will need to shorten the size or move them so they fit onto the label. They will turn black when the size is correct.


The field on the label for Ean8 is in the wrong format so it needs to be removed. Click on the ??????? Ean8 box then click Delete on your keyboard.


The final stage is to add the barcode to the label.


From the top of the screen click Object > Barcode. A small barcode will appear next to the cursor. Click anywhere on the label and the Barcode Wizard will appear.


Select Variable barcode data then click the Define button. Under the Available barcode options, click the cross to the left of GS1 (EAN,UCC) then select Ean-8 then click OK.


Click Next. Select Database for the Variable field then click Next.


Click the Field drop down and select Ean8 then click Next then click Finish.


The barcode will now appear on the label. You may need to reduce the size of the field.


You can now print the label.


Remember to save the label. Click File > Save As and save it to the Labels directory. The next time you open Zebra the label will appear as the last opened label or a recently opened label.

If the Text File Wizard screen appears follow these steps:



Click Next.





Ensure the File Encoding is set to Automatic Detection then click Next.





Set the Data Type to Delimited, tick the 'First row contains field names' box and set the 'Start import at row' to 2.


Click Next.






Select 'Comma' as the Delimiter and " as the Text Qualifier then click Finish.


You will now to be taken back to the Database Wizard.
