Returns can be made against a requisition by selecting the requisition number then clicking on the item to return.

When a requisition is entered for a stock item the unit price is taken from the oldest FIFO stock band eg

FIFO cost at start:

Qty 4 x £10 - from goods in record dated 01.06.15

Qty 5 x £30 - from goods in record dated 22.06.15

Total in stock = 9

A requisition is entered for a qty of 5. The price shown on the requisition will be 5 x £10.

Once the requisition has been despatched there will be 4 left in stock at £30 each.

If the stock is returned in full (qty of 5) the system will look to see how many are now in stock (9) and calculate that 5 of the 9 are at the latest goods in record cost of £30 each and the other 4 are at the next goods in record cost of £10 each so the closing FIFO is the same as it was at the start.

This will not always be the case. If the qty returned is less than the qty issued it could provide a different result. Example:

FIFO cost at start:

Qty 4 x £10 - from goods in record dated 01.06.15

Qty 5 x £30 - from goods in record dated 22.06.15

Total in stock = 9

A requisition is entered for a qty of 6. The price shown on the requisition will be 6 x £10.

Once the requisition has been despatched there will be 3 left in stock at £30 each.

If only 1 is returned the system will look to see how many are now in stock (4) and the latest goods in record is for a qty of 5 x £30 so all of the 4 in stock must belong to that goods in record.

Therefore the FIFO at the end is 4 x £30
